Our norms ❤️

• Unspy aims to have minimal hierarchy and minimal bullshit
• Unspy plans and takes no illegal actions
• Folks should discuss and decide what are good strategic actions to take together

Our goals 🥅

• We aim to build a coalition of people who understand how dangerous it is to let fascists have mass surveillance tools.
• Our first local target is the Flock and ALPR cameras around Madison:
  • Cameras on campus that could be used to harm international students and immigrant workers (put up by the UW-Madison Police Department)
  • Cameras around the capitol that could be used to track protests (put up by the Capitol Police)
  • Cameras elsewhere, like Maple Bluff, and around the county, put up by various municipality police departments and the Dane County Sheriff's office
• Flock cameras have been used by ICE, despite claims of non-cooperation
• We are working to either:
  • cancel contracts, as Verona has (so it is very possible)
  • OR
  • demand CCOPS (civilian control over police surveillance) ordinances and policies... the problem is, Madison already has ordinances like this, but UWPD and other jerks put up cameras in the city anyway.
• ...but there's a ton more Silicon Valley horseshit our great billionaires are spending resources on instead of caring for people, claiming they're going to stop crime. We've got to keep our eyes open. We will work together to stop mass surveillance.
