Wait. What are these cameras put up by Dane County? 📸

• The Dane County Sheriff's Office has a contract with Flock, their info page is here with a link to Flock's so-called "transparency portal". These cameras put our community in danger:
  • ICE and other federal entities have gotten access to Flock cameras elsewhere despite Flock saying they didn't have access
  • County sheriffs that have ICE 287(g) agreements that DCSO is currently sharing with: Calumet, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Kenosha, Marquette, Sauk, Waukesha, Wood, Dyer [Tennessee]
  • 2026-03-05: Isthmus: Does ICE have access to Flock data? The Dane County Sheriff’s Office has shared data from 25 cameras with seven states

  • Flock is a private company, making them an accountability sink where the powers that be can just say "not our problem"

• The City of Madison has an ordinance preventing this type of surveillance by city agencies, but DSCO gets to ignore it because they are their own jurisdiction.
